Position: PLANNER IV, V AND VI - OAHU (OHHI)

Recruitment Number OHHI-25061. This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH‑HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast‑tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Salary

IV level - $5,953 - $6,794 per month (SR-22, Step D to I) – Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.

V level - $6,667 - $7,629 per month (SR-24, Step D to I) – Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.

VI level - $7,159 - $8,230 per month (SR-26, Step D to I) – Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.

Duties Summary

Positions in the Planner series are concerned with providing legislative and top-level administrative policymakers with information and plans for the orderly and coordinated physical, environmental, social and/or economic development of Hawaii and/or the services of the State government. Positions are involved with the development of information and rationale for decisions which affect the direction, rate and character of growth of the State and/or of services to the people of the State over a significant period of time.

Positions

In This Series Are Characterized By The Following
  • They formulate plans, which are statements of goals and objectives, recommend alternatives for actions and recommend policies and programs within a significant time period; and
  • The plans they formulate are for a broad area of concern having a direct impact on and/or are directly affected by more than one functional concern or activity of the State government.
Level IV

Conducts planning projects; participates in promoting effective relationships with other agencies and groups; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Level V

Conducts studies and prepares plans for the development of a geographic area, a major area of concern, public facility or activity; establishes and promotes effective relationships with other agencies and jurisdictions; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Level VI

Supervises and participates in a variety of major planning projects, or serves as planner‑in‑charge for a major planning study or project of the State's principal planning department and/or as overall coordinator of a major inter‑agency planning activity; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Basic

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.

Specialized

Experience:

  • Level IV: 2‑1/2 years of specialized experience.
  • Level V: 3‑1/2 years of specialized experience.
  • Level VI: 4‑1/2 years of specialized experience.

Progressively responsible professional planning experience which included the collection and evaluation of an extensive variety of physical, social, economic and environmental data, determination of public opinion and general community objectives and policies to obtain a comprehensive prospective of conditions and identify problems and opportunities in the area(s) of concern.
