Position Overview
This recruitment is to fill two immediate vacancies in the Audit, Quality Control and Research Office Division (ACQRO) of the State Department of Human Services (DHS).
Responsibilities
- Perform full-range eligibility determination work for public assistance programs.
- Apply a greater variety of program policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
- Conduct high-degree interviewing and manage complex human relationship factors arising from clients’ lack of resources.
- Review case quality assurance, internal reviews, or validation studies of eligibility determinations.
- Serve as assistant supervisor for a large unit (Position IV).
- Implement quality control review system for Medicaid, SNAP, and other state/federal programs administered by DHS.
- Conduct sample case reviews to determine correctness of categorical eligibility determinations, payment amounts, and program compliance; identify errors and recommend corrective action.
- Apply sound interviewing techniques and thorough knowledge of public assistance programs and federal quality control policies.
Qualifications
- Legal authorization to work: U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or other eligible status.
- Education:
high school diploma or equivalent; demonstrated verbal and reading comprehension skills and basic mathematical calculations (percentages, averages). Continuous, though not full‑time, work experience may satisfy this requirement. - General experience:
Three years of public contact work providing information, answering inquiries, and explaining policies by phone or in person; computer data entry. - Specialized experience:
Two years (Level III) or three years (Level IV) of progressively responsible work demonstrating knowledge of public assistance programs and eligibility determination. - At least one year of specialized experience must involve applying regulations, policies, and procedures of a pertinent public assistance program.
- Supervisory aptitude for Level IV: evidence of supervisory abilities without actual experience.

Applicants will be placed on the eligible list for all levels for which they are qualified.
