Permanent full‑time Investigator V level positions with the Department of Law Enforcement (DLE) – Office of Homeland Security (OHS) Intelligent Enforcement Unit.
Salary$6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR‑24, Step D to I). Hiring rates will be based on available funds, applicant qualifications, and other factors.
ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, direct, and coordinate investigations related to homeland security and criminal intelligence.
Duties include:
- Conduct in‑depth and undercover investigations of terrorism, critical infrastructure threats, illegal gaming, violent crimes, and related offenses.
- Coordinate and cooperate with federal, state, and county agencies, and participate in the Federal asset‑sharing program with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
- Conduct seizure and forfeiture cases involving currency, vehicles, and property.
- Provide intelligence support to departmental operations and advise on homeland security threats statewide.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Legal Authorization to Work
: U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or eligible under federal law. - Education
:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university. - Specialized Experience
: 3½ years progressive investigative experience, including:- Initiative, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and judgment in collecting and developing facts.
- Logical and objective thinking, analysis, and evaluation of evidence.
- Skill in written and oral reports and presentation of findings.
- Tact, discretion, and capacity to obtain cooperation and confidence of others.
- Quality of Experience
:
At least one year of experience comparable in scope, complexity, and responsibility to the Investigator IV class of work. - Selective certification:
Demonstrated knowledge of the intelligence cycle/process, intelligence‑led policing principles, criminal and intelligence investigations management, and agency jurisdictions. - Firearms Requirement
:
Must be qualified by a certified law‑enforcement firearms instructor to carry a department‑issued handgun. Must not have a domestic‑violence conviction. - Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
- Pre‑employment drug testing required; cost paid by applicant.
Positions are vested with statewide police powers, authorized to carry and use firearms and ammunition. The role involves significant investigative responsibilities and collaboration with multiple law‑enforcement agencies.
