Program Specialist - Level VI Jobs OverviewPositions in the Program Specialist series perform and/or supervise professional work in planning, developing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating programs, operations, and activities to support agency programs.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct studies, research, and analyses to identify needs or recommend solutions to problems.
- Develop program plans, policies and procedures, rules and regulations for monitoring and maintaining current programs or establishing new programs and services.
- Provide advisory services, training, and liaison or resource to community organizations or others involved in program implementation.
- Supervise program development and/or evaluation services of staff of program specialists.
- Participate in performance of program planning and development activities at agency level.
- Coordinate with federal and state agencies and private agencies in planning and development of programs and policies.

:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university. - General Experience
: 1.5 years of progressively responsible professional work requiring a high degree of analytical skill, involving gathering, evaluating, and analyzing facts to resolve problems and recommend actions. - Specialized Experience
: 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in one of the following areas:- Type 1:
Monitoring, evaluating, or conducting studies and analyses of programs or projects for recommendations or revisions of standards, policies, or procedures. - Type 2:
Experience in a pertinent field/program area related to the agency’s functions, providing knowledge of concepts, current issues, and interactions with state and federal agencies and community resources.

Independent performance of the full range of program planning, development, and evaluation activities comparable to Program Specialist IV level. - Supervisory Experience
: 1 year of formal supervisory work including planning, scheduling, directing the work of others, reviewing, training, and evaluating performance. - Driver's License
: A valid driver’s license is required for some positions at the time of appointment.
