Program Specialist III

The Hawaii State Department of Education offers a Program Specialist III position with a salary range of $5,107.00 - $6,221.00 per month. This role is located in the Hawaii District-East Special Education Special Services at 480 Waianuenue Ave, Hilo, HI 96720, and is a 12-month position.

The job description includes assisting in conducting major studies or special projects, analyzing programs and making recommendations, conducting research into changes in laws and regulations, interpreting and explaining program policies, providing information to various committees and organizations, assisting in the development of contracts and grants, monitoring and evaluating program operations, developing corrective action plans, developing training programs, assisting in the preparation of the agency's State plan, participating in developing legislative proposals and testimonies, speaking before groups to promote or provide information, assisting in the development of budget requests, providing technical assistance and interpretation of program rules and procedures, developing and coordinating implementation plans for specific program areas, and advising and explaining program requirements to data processing personnel.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent work experience, and the ability to write clear reports, read and interpret complex material, and solve complex problems logically and systematically. Specialized experience includes progressively responsible professional experience in conducting studies and analyses of programs or projects, and knowledge of principles and practices in a pertinent field/program area.
