Job Title: RN – Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU)

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with step-down capability. This role involves caring for patients requiring close monitoring and cardiac telemetry, including those transitioning from higher levels of care.
Candidates must obtain and hold an active Hawaii RN license prior to the start of the assignment. Travelers not currently licensed in Hawaii must apply immediately upon offer acceptance.
Unit Overview- 33-bed Progressive Care Unit
- 6 Step-Down level beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Progressive Care: 1:4
- Step-Down: 1:3
- Provide primary nursing care to progressive care and step-down patients
- Perform telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Monitor vital signs and conduct fingerstick blood glucose testing
- Administer medications and treatments safely
- Utilize respiratory and cardiac support equipment (e.g., BiPAP)
- Document patient care using EPIC EMR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
- Float to other acute care units as needed, including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER
- Varied shifts
- 40 hours during orientation week
- Approximately 36 hours per week following orientation
- No on-call requirement
- Holiday coverage required
- No guarantee of hours
- Active RN license (Hawaii license required prior to start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent hospital acute care experience (within the last year)
- Experience in Progressive Care and telemetry preferred
- Ability to float to multiple acute care units
- BLS / BCLS (required)
- ACLS (required)
- PALS (preferred)
- NIHSS (preferred)
- EPIC electronic medical record
- Pyxis medication dispensing system
- Continuous cardiac monitoring
- BiPAP respiratory support
- Professional scrubs required
- Must complete employee health clearance prior to start
- Candidate must arrive prior to assignment start to complete required onboarding
- Orientation and competency validation provided
