About the Position

Key Responsibilities

- Assist physicians in evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of respiratory disorders.

- Evaluate patients and perform diagnostic tests (arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests).

- Develop respiratory treatment plans with physicians.

- Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy.

- Set up and operate mechanical ventilators and aerosol generators.

- Manage life-support equipment in critical care settings.

- Administer respiratory treatments (oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy).

- Respond to emergency situations (cardiac arrest, trauma).

- Collaborate with healthcare team on patient management.

- Educate patients and families about disease management.

Certifications/Requirements

- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC required.

- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) minimum certification required.

- BLS/ACLS certification required.

- State licensure required (49 states regulate respiratory therapy).

Experience

- Associate degree or higher from accredited respiratory care program (2-3 years).

- Pass NBRC Therapist Multiple-Choice (TMC) examination.

- Pass NBRC Clinical Simulation Examination (CSE).

- 2+ years clinical respiratory care experience preferred.

- Pass state licensure examination.
