Registered Nurse

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care for laboring patients, including monitoring maternal and fetal status and managing labor progression
  • Assist with delivery and deliver immediate newborn care, plus postpartum support for the mother
  • Monitor fetal status using fetal monitoring systems and document findings in the electronic medical record (Meditech); collaborate with the obstetric team
  • Deliver postpartum education and support for families, including breastfeeding initiation; uphold safety and infection control practices
  • Work in an L&D unit configured with 8 labor beds and 18 postpartum beds; respond to obstetric emergencies as part of the care team
  • Arrive the Thursday before start to complete employee health requirements and orientation prerequisites
Requirements
  • Active Hawaii RN license by start of assignment (or eligibility and must obtain license prior to start); travelers not currently in possession of a Hawaii license must apply on offer acceptance
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Labor and delivery experience: minimum 3 years
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts with 36 hours per week after orientation; scheduled call at least once per month; day/night variability
  • Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical record and fetal monitoring systems (GE/Centricity)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced obstetric setting
