Position SummaryThe Payroll & Benefits Specialist (PBS) is responsible for managing the full cycle payroll processes and employee benefits including open enrollment and education. The PBS ensures compliance with regulations and provides support to employees regarding payroll and benefit inquiries. This role is vital for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time and that benefits are administered correctly, contributing to overall employee satisfaction and compliance within the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities- Oversee and manage the complete payroll process and ensure all wages and deductions are accurately captured.
- Ensures payroll transactions are processed timely, including additions of new hires, terminations and changes to employee payroll information.
- Administers employee benefits programs, including open enrollment, changes and terminations.
- Process all mileage and cell phone reimbursements through the payroll system.
- Perform data entry and ensure accurate employee records.
- Reconcile employee deductions and contributions.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and provides guidance on coverage options.
- Conducts benefit open enrollments and plans, develops and manages Wellness Wednesdays.
- Collaborates with HR and Accounting on incoming employee new hire orientation and exits as related to benefits.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to payroll and benefits.
- Prepares and distributes payroll and benefits summaries for management as requested.
- Works closely with HR and Finance departments to reconcile payroll and benefits data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate reporting.
- Excellent observation, critical thinking, assessment, nursing judgment, and communication skills.
- Comfortable in maintaining professional boundaries.
- Interest and desire to give hospice care with a special sensitivity to the needs of the seriously ill population.
- Sound working knowledge of hospice Conditions of Participation (COPs) and clinical standards of practice.
- Associate’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.
- 2yrs or more experience in processing payroll and benefits.
- Operates phone system, computer hardware, calculator, printer, facsimile, copiers and other standard office equipment.
- Frequent use of personal motor vehicle to run errands as directed.
- Primarily Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm with half-hour lunch break.
- Duties may occasionally require after hour work including weekends as needed.

Pay Range: $28.00 - $30.00/hour
* This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.
