Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Director of Operations, Oncology Services, to join our dynamic outpatient healthcare team. This position will oversee operational excellence, financial sustainability, and regulatory compliance while advancing the organization’s mission of accessible, high-quality, and patient-centered care. The Director serves as a key liaison between clinical teams, administrative leadership, and community partners to promote service integration, program growth, and patient satisfaction.
RevenueCycle Management & Operational Leadership
- Direct and oversee day‑to‑day operations of all oncology and specialty clinics to ensure efficient, compliant, and patient‑centered workflows.
- Develop and execute operational strategies and annual work plans that align with fiscal and organizational goals.
- Monitor and analyze profit and loss performance; recommend strategies to maximize revenue, enhance collections, and reduce expenses.
- Oversee clinic scheduling to ensure optimized throughput and access.
- Collaborate with finance, revenue cycle, and IT teams to ensure accurate billing, charge capture, and denial resolution.
- Analyze patient volume, provider productivity, and operational data to forecast staffing, space, and resource needs.
- Direct space planning, renovation, and allocation to support growth and efficiency.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; ensure adequate front‑ and back‑office coverage to meet patient care and billing standards.
- Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Identify barriers to operational success and lead performance improvement initiatives using data‑driven methods.
- Serve as the administrative liaison to patients, physicians, and departments; ensure smooth coordination across the care continuum.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders and executive management to implement new initiatives, programs, and technologies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Foster a positive, team‑oriented environment that promotes collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with providers and staff to enhance communication, problem‑solving, and service quality.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and staff development to ensure high engagement and retention.
- Lead regular staff meetings and ensure timely completion of quality assurance and utilization review activities.
- Monitor patient feedback, satisfaction surveys, and complaints; implement corrective action and process improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient access, care coordination, and overall experience.
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and clinical standards are communicated, implemented, and regularly reviewed.
- Champion staff education and in‑service programs to promote professional growth and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain clear, consistent communication across all levels of the organization through established mechanisms and leadership meetings.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to plan and implement community education, cancer screening events, and outreach initiatives.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, referring providers, community organizations, and regulatory bodies.
- Represent East Hawai‘i Health at conferences, professional meetings, and recruitment events (e.g., ASCO).
- Coordinate and monitor clinic budgets, including labor, supplies, and capital expenditures, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and cost containment.
- Support the development and promotion of educational and marketing materials for patient and community awareness.
- Advance telehealth and outreach initiatives to expand oncology access throughout East Hawai‘i.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including HIPAA and Joint Commission standards.
