Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Deputy Unit Fire Chief)

As a Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Deputy Unit Fire Chief) - Direct Hire Authority your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Review preparedness actions and operating plans used in the management of wildland fires.
  • Coordinate operations with cooperating agencies on multi-jurisdictional wildland fires addressing risk to human safety and potential for damage to resources and improvements.
  • Ensure that the fuels management program is consistent with ecosystem management principles and land use plans and is applied on a landscape basis.
  • Assist with all phases of the fire management program and may be responsible for its planning, program direction, coordination and evaluation.
  • Assign and review work on a regular basis, assuring that production and accuracy requirements are met.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts priorities.
