A working supervisor who assists the Production Supervisor in directing and coordinating activities of workers engaged in production, distribution, and collection of donations for store or plant operations. In the absence of the Production Supervisor, the Lead Production Worker assumes responsibility and control of the entire production/donation department. Performs the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel.

• Coordinates production, distribution, and warehousing in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the Operations Supervisor.
• Implements plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
• Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for processing products.
• Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
• Works closely with the Production Supervisor in reviewing product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
• Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Observes workers to ensure compliance with productions standards.
• Responsible for the routine consolidation of operational and production data.
• Requisition s tools, equipment, and supplies required for production activities.
• Confers with management to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
• Works with the Production Supervisor and Safety Manager to communicate safety standards imposed by OSHA and State regulatory agencies to ensure a safe working environment. (Includes proper attire, safety and protective equipment, and practices).
• Conducts work in a safe and responsible manner, utilizing protective clothing and/or equipment when appropriate. Complies with all safety standards.
• Responsible for awareness of and adherence to all company and safety policies and procedures.

Provides direction and supervises employees in the Production area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

High school graduate or 2 years of college plus related work experience and/or training involving supervisory level work in operational management. Combination of education and or experience that demonstrates ability to supervise a large staff in operational activities involving production, processing, transportation, and facility maintenance activities.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write brief routine reports and correspondence in reporting incidents and or other documentation. Ability to speak effectively and clearly in providing direction and instructions required for operational functions.
