Position

Summary

The Program Officer – Stronger Hawaiʻi plays a key role in advancing HCF’s statewide disaster resilience platform by building, managing, and activating a network of community-based organizations and partners. This role leads the coordination and implementation of the Community Resilience Capacity Assessment (CRCA) and supports engagement across the Stronger Hawaiʻi Network to strengthen community preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation capabilities. The Program Officer – Stronger Hawaiʻi serves as a connector between community partners and internal teams, ensuring that Stronger Hawaiʻi strategies and investments are informed by real-time community insight and aligned with HCF’s broader mission.

Community

Network Development and Management
  • Lead coordination and implementation of the Community Resilience Capacity Assessment (CRCA) statewide.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community-based organizations, partners, and networks.
  • Support the development and sustainability of the Stronger Hawaiʻi Network, including identifying and engaging participating organizations.
  • Track participation, engagement, and readiness indicators across network organizations.
  • Maintain awareness of the nonprofit, government, and community ecosystem across Hawaiʻi.
  • Analyze information from CRCA and network engagement to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Surface insights to inform Stronger Hawaiʻi strategy and decision-making.
  • Support development of internal and external reporting materials as needed.
Convening and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate network convenings, working sessions, and cross-sector meetings.
  • Support collaboration among nonprofit, government, philanthropic, and private-sector partners.
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for network participants to ensure clear communication and alignment.
  • Strengthen relationships that enable coordinated disaster preparedness and response efforts.
Strategic Coordination and Internal Alignment
  • Coordinate across internal HCF teams, including CRSI, Community Grants & Initiatives (CGI), Development & Donor Relations (DDR), and Communications.
  • Support alignment of Stronger Hawaiʻi initiatives across strategic pillars and program priorities.
  • Track program activities and progress to support effective implementation.
  • Identify community needs, gaps, and opportunities through CRCA and ongoing engagement.
  • Provide insight and context to inform investment decisions and program priorities.
  • Support coordination of network-aligned investments in partnerships with the Program Director and internal teams.
Rapid Deployment Readiness Support
  • Support coordination of Stronger Hawaiʻi’s rapid philanthropic deployment efforts.
  • Maintain relationships with priority network partners to ensure readiness for activation during disasters.
  • Contribute to maintaining clear operational coordination across stakeholders.
Community Outreach and Representation
  • Represent HCF and Stronger Hawaiʻi in community settings, meetings, and convenings as appropriate.
  • Deliver excellent service to community partners and stakeholders.
  • Build trust‑based relationships that support long‑term collaboration and community impact.
Collaboratively Drive the Success of HCF
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to build knowledge of the nonprofit and resilience sectors.
  • Partner and support internal teamwork and contribute to achieving CRSI and HCF goals to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Actively embody HCF’s values, including collaboration, innovation, and commitment to community.
