Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU position in Hawaii, requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and an active Hawaii RN license by the start of the assignment.
Responsibilities- Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a hospital setting
- Cares for patients pre-op, and in Phase I and Phase II recovery
- Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours and may be days, evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays
- Shifts rotate across ASU and PACU units
- On-call required 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night call and 24-hour weekend/holiday call
- EMR and equipment used includes Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of the assignment; plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend the Friday morning Employee Health appointment
- Flu vaccination may be administered during the Employee Health clearance appointment
- Responsibilities include caring for patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery with advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and post-surgical monitoring
- Prior experience in critical care and surgical nursing is a plus
- Specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be required
- Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required by start of assignment; must apply upon acceptance of offer if not already held
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute
- Current BLS/BCLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association required
- PALS from the American Heart Association required
- Critical care assessment skills including monitoring incision sites, body temperature, and post-anesthesia patient stability
- Proof of flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start
