Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in Hawaii, requiring a valid HI RN license and a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience.
Responsibilities- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a hospital setting
- Cares for patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery
- Shift lengths vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours across days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Floating required between the ASU and PACU units
- On-call required 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday on-call shifts
- Schedule is variable with no shift preference guarantee
- EMR:
Meditech - Equipment includes PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
- Provides nursing care for post-surgical patients across pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery stages
- Strong critical thinking skills and prior surgical nursing experience are highly valued
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the assignment start date; travelers should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend a Friday Employee Health appointment
- Flu vaccination may be administered at the Employee Health clearance appointment if needed
- 26-week assignment
- Active RN license for the State of Hawaii required by start of assignment
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS/BCLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start
- Advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and post-anesthesia patient care
- Critical care skills including assessment of incision sites, temperature monitoring, and complication tracking
