Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) travel assignment in Hilo, HI. Overview
Start date May 18, 2026; duration 13 weeks. Weekly pay range: $1,842 to $1,892 per week. No guaranteed hours. Shift: 36 hours per week scheduled after the first week of orientation; shift details are not specified ting: acute care hospital.

Progressive Care Unit with telemetry (15 beds); 3 Step‑down ICU; 12 telemetry beds - In‑house float:
Eligible to float to other acute units (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER) as needed
- Provide direct patient care as the primary RN for assigned PCU patients, with 1:4 ratio in PCU and 1:3 in Step‑Down ICU as applicable; monitor telemetry and read telemetry strips; perform fingerstick glucose checks
- Administer medications and use Meditech for charting; access meds via Pyxis; manage supportive devices such as BIPAP; maintain continuous cardiac monitoring
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and implement care plans, document progress notes, and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
- Monitor patient status, respond to telemetry alarms, escalate unstable findings promptly, and collaborate with respiratory therapy, physicians, and other staff
- Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, therapies, and discharge planning
- Onboarding logistics: must arrive the Thursday before start to complete employee health requirements; scrubs expected as the dress code; eligible to float to other units as needed
- Active Hawaii RN license by start of assignment (out‑of‑state candidates must obtain Hawaii license prior to start)
- At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last 12 months
- Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
- ACLS preferred; PALS preferred; NIHSS certification preferred
- Ability to float to other acute units (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER)
- Scrubs dress code and ability to work in a fast‑paced acute care setting
- Onboarding: orientation and pre‑employment health screening coordination
- Assignment support: dedicated recruiter and staff support throughout the contract
- Scheduling communications: clear updates on shift assignments and hours
- Credentialing assistance and access to onboarding resources
