Hilo Benioff Medical Center's Extended Care (Intermediate Care) department is seeking compassionate and dedicated Certified Nurse Aides (Entry Level and Full Performance) to join our long‑term care team. In this role, you’ll provide hands‑on, direct patient care that supports comfort, dignity, and safety for our friends, family, and neighbors. This position is full‑time and paid on a salary basis (40 hours a week) paying $31.26–$32.18 per hour with a negotiated working condition differential. Any paid leave (i.e., vacation, sick) will be compensated at a base rate of $25.26/hour for Entry Level and $26.18/hour for Full Performance.
KeyJob Duties
- Provide direct personal care, including bathing, toileting, grooming, feeding, positioning, and mobility assistance.
- Measure, observe, and accurately document vital signs, intake and output, and changes in patient condition.
- Assist with patient transfers, transport, and range‑of‑motion activities using proper body mechanics and equipment.
- Support meals and nutrition by preparing patients for meals and assisting with feeding as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑stocked patient care environment while following infection control and safety policies.
- Communicate respectfully and compassionately with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Job Requirements
- Current State of Hawaiʻi Nurse Aide Certificate (required for SNF/ICF positions).
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand simple English instructions.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and in various care settings or units.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Heartsaver certification required within six (6) months of hire.
- Demonstrated patience, respect for patient rights, emotional stability, and teamwork skills.
Job Requirements
- All Entry Level Requirements listed above, plus:
- One (1) year of experience providing direct patient care in a hospital, long‑term care, or similar healthcare setting or completion of a practical or professional nursing program.
- Ability to independently provide age‑specific care, recognize abnormal signs and symptoms, and report findings appropriately.
- Working knowledge of infection control, patient safety, restorative care, and basic medical terminology.
- Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to work independently under general supervision.
