Nurse Educator
Assistant Professor of Nursing – Four open tenure‑track assistant professor positions at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo.

Employment Type:
Full‑time, nine‑month academic year, permanent.
Anticipated start date:
August 2026 (subject to position clearance and funding).
- Teach courses in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), RN to BSN, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs.
- Deliver in‑person classroom lectures, clinical practicum and lab courses, and distance education courses, with availability on Hawai‘i Island throughout the week.
- Advise students through their degree pathway.
- Engage in scholarly activity and assist in development of outcomes assessment.
- Participate in faculty meetings, mandatory in‑person weekly office hours, and university, departmental, and community service.
- Serve on SON committees, including accreditation work and community events.
Minimum qualifications:
- Doctorate in a nursing‑related field.
- Eligibility for Hawai‘i RN licensure and other professional and health requirements.
- Experience teaching or working with undergraduate and/or graduate clinical nursing students in acute care, medical/surgical, long‑term care, mental health, obstetrics, or pediatrics settings, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
Desirable qualifications:
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.
- Experience teaching on Hawai‘i Island with culturally diverse student populations in rural clinical settings.
- Eligibility for Hawaii APRN FNP licensure.
- Clinical experience in acute care, long‑term care, mental health, primary care, and/or general medical/surgical practice.
- Experience with synchronous and asynchronous education technology and outcomes assessment.
- Administration of grants and research experience.
- Experience with instruction in BSN and/or DNP nursing program and doctoral projects.
- Experience coordinating clinical programs in undergraduate Baccalaureate nursing programs.
- Background or experience with simulated learning experiences, including high‑fidelity patient simulators for detailed, clinically based scenarios.
