Hilo Benioff Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Professional Nurse V, Progressive Care Unit Nurse Manager to lead and coordinate daily operations in our Progressive Care Unit. This is a key leadership role that ensures high-quality patient care, efficient staffing, and regulatory compliance, while fostering a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Oversee Daily Operations
    :
    Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day functions of the Progressive Care Unit, including staffing, scheduling, performance evaluation, and resource management to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care.
  • Drive Clinical Excellence and Compliance
    :
    Ensure all practices align with regulatory standards (e.g., JCAHO, OSHA), support ethical decision-making, and implement hospital policies, procedures, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Develop and Deliver Clinical Education
    :
    Design, coordinate, and evaluate cardiovascular and nursing education programs; mentor clinical staff in both foundational and advanced skills to promote continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Foster Effective Communication and Collaboration
    :
    Promote clear, compassionate communication with patients, staff, physicians, and leadership; participate in committees, support policy development, and cultivate a positive team culture.
  • Champion Quality, Safety, and Innovation
    :
    Maintain compliance with patient safety and infection control standards, support cost-containment initiatives, and contribute to hospital-wide quality improvement and regulatory readiness efforts.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing as demonstrated by the possession of a license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE: One and one-half (1 ½) year of professional nursing work experience.

SUPERVISORY

EXPERIENCE:

One-half (1/2) year of professional nursing experience which included: (1) planning and directing the work of others; (2) assigning and review their work; (3) advising them on difficult problem areas; (4) timing and scheduling their work; and (5) training and developing employees.

CERTIFICATION: BLS certification required within one (1) month of appointment. ACLS certification highly desirable.

LICENSURE: Possession of a current license to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.
