ResponsibilitiesUnder the general supervision of the Maintenance Engineer, the employee is responsible for maintaining the traffic signal system on Kauai, repairing all existing traffic signal equipment, assembling, testing, adjusting, installing, and modifying electronic equipment, inspecting traffic signals, maintaining traffic signal inventory, maintaining highway lighting inventory, and inspecting highway lighting facilities.
Qualifications- General
Experience:
Two (2) years of work experience demonstrating knowledge of electricity and electronic principles, theories, tools, instruments, and materials used in electrical and electronic work, electrical and electronic hazards and safety practices, and the ability to use test instruments to test and replace faulty electronic modules, read and interpret plans, blueprints, manufacturer’s specifications, and diagrams of electrical/electronic circuits, and prepare reports. - Specialized
Experience:
One (1) year of work experience demonstrating knowledge of electrical and electronic principles as they apply to the repair of minicomputers and electronic components such as oscillators, multivibrators, pulse circuits, memory and integrated circuits, and the ability to read, understand, and prepare plans and schematic diagrams of applicable electrical and electronic circuits and test/repair or construct printed circuit assemblies. - Electrician’s License: A valid State of Hawaii Journey Worker Electrician’s License is required at the time of application.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license to drive in the State of Hawaii is required at the time of appointment.
- Lifting Requirement: Ability to lift and carry items of up to 50 lbs unassisted and 125 lbs assisted.
