Job SummaryThe Residential Specialist for the Safe House program is a full‑time, 40‑hour a week non‑exempt position. The Residential Specialist performs essential functions as indicated in this job description and is supervised by the Program Coordinator. The Specialist is responsible for up‑keep of the facility to meet program and licensing standards, for scheduling group program activities, for ensuringextra…such as transportation and crisis intervention for adolescent female residents at the NOSH location.
Minimum& Essential Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Valid Hawaii driver’s license
- Valid TB clearance and pre‑employment medical clearance
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- DHS/FBI criminal background check and CAN cleared
- Meets Salvation Army standards as an authorized driver
- Associate’s degree in human services or related field; or two years of college‑level study in a related field and one year of experience working with juveniles; or bachelor’s degree in human services or related field
- Completion of Professional Residential Child Care and Youth Care Certification
- Other relevant certifications or trainings completed opgebouwd nodig voor de positie
- Ensure up‑keep of the facility to meet program and licensing standards; report any unmet conditions to the Program Manager
- Coordinate schedule of group program activities after school, weekends, holidays, vacation
- Supervise and monitor all client residents at all times during assigned work shift
- Maintain complete resident and program files in accordance with policy
- Monitor resident service contracts and ensure needs of residents and families are met by all agencies involved
- Transport residents to and from school, job, and appointments in the absence of Residential Assistants
- Complete daily reports/consultations for each resident

- Assist Program Manager with supervision of Residential Assistants and volunteers
- Conduct intake/discharge interviews, orient new residents, and confirm safe arrival after discharge
- Facilitate house/group meetings, fire drills, and document proceedings
- Serve as a crisis counselor on duty, on phone or in person with youth and/or parents
- Model behavior, communication, decision‑making and professionalism; maintain boundaries with residents and staff
- Support service plan provision developed by the Program Manager
- Participate in individual, group, family counseling when requested
- Maintain required documentation and provide monthly program summary and data to Program Manager
- Assist in public information campaigns and community representation of the agency
- Attend required meetings, workshops, conferences, growth groups
- Grocery shopping and menu planning for the Safe House; supervise residents in meal preparation
- Manage client at‑risk behavior problems professionally and assertively
- Work all assigned shifts, including afternoon‑to‑evening, evening‑to‑early‑morning, early morning headlights and weekends
- Perform duties in the Safe House facility
- Perform other duties assigned by Administration
