Dispatcher, Transportation

MTM Transit is seeking a part‑time Dispatcher (20–30 hours per week, occasional extra days) located in Hilo, HI. The Dispatcher directs daily route and trip operations, ensuring safe, cost‑effective, on‑time service. The role involves daily communication with drivers, monitors, and transportation providers, monitoring activity, and reporting incidents.

• Assist with all phone‑call information and dispatch rides
• Organize and route trips based on schedules and locations
• Provide directions, assistance, and problem resolution to drivers and transportation providers
• Maintain effective communication with providers
• Record time of departure, destination, and expected time of return
• Monitor radio, telephone, and on‑road service for quality
• Report and record all incidents and performance issues
• Inform providers of upcoming trips and changes
• Provide feedback on driver performance

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• 2+ years in transportation routing, dispatching, and scheduling (preferred)
• 1 year experience with a transit scheduling system (preferred)
• Valid authorization to work in the United States
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills with attention to timelines and details
• Proficiency with scheduling software, two‑way radio, and data analysis
• Computer skills:
  Microsoft Word, Excel, and other applications
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Knowledge of GPS and GIS systems (preferred)

Hourly rate: $29/hr (base pay; may vary by location and experience)
