Driver - Hilo

Position Overview

MTM Transit is seeking Full Time & Part Time Drivers for our Hilo, Hawaii team. This role involves providing safe, reliable, and customer‑focused transportation for older adults and people with disabilities.

Hourly rate: $28.03 per hour. Weekend classes start every other week.

• Provide safe and reliable transportation
• Demonstrate excellent defensive driving skills
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
• Assist with passenger loading and unloading and with mobility devices
• Ensure on‑time pickup and drop‑off of customers
• Show sensitivity to the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities
• Complete vehicle pre‑trip, post‑trip, and DVI inspections as required
• Complete required paperwork and utilize tablets or electronic devices

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum age 21
• Valid Hawaii driver’s license held for at least 3 years
• No more than two moving violations in the past 3 years; no violations in last 3 years if license revoked
• No suspensions, at‑fault accidents, or DUI/DWI convictions in the last 3 years
• Must pass a DOT physical and pre‑employment drug/alcohol screening
• Must pass a criminal background check and motor‑vehicle record check
• Valid authorization to work in the United States
• Resume with at least 10 years of work history
• Ability to use a tablet, GPS, two‑way radio, or other electronic device
• Maintain high level of confidentiality
• Strong communication skills and ability to comprehend instructions
• Knowledge of highway traffic signs, signals, maps, manifests, and schedules
• Knowledge of FTA, ADA, and DOT regulations
• Familiarity with major highways in the service area
