The primary responsibility of a Warehouse Stock Clerk is to receive, verify, and store merchandise brought in by various vendors and transportation services, to ensure accurate billing and payment of merchandise. A Warehouse Stock Clerk also fills orders and prepares merchandise for delivery to each store.
Essential Duties- Accurately receive and count incoming merchandise, physically counting and matching it with invoices.
- Store merchandise in warehouse (drive forklift, operate pallet jack, stock wagon, etc.).
- Fill store orders by using “pick lists” and pulling merchandise.
- Prepare orders for delivery by palletizing and wrapping merchandise.
- Load freight for delivery to stores (truckers, Young Brothers, etc.).
- Pick‑up freight from Alternate Warehouse.
- Deliver merchandise to Downtown store and unload the merchandise.
- Do quarterly inventory and weekly cycle counts.
- Maintain a clean warehouse. Sweep, remove debris, and discard trash daily.
- Sweep containers.
- Wash Kona vans.
- Take damaged goods and unusable pallets to rubbish dump for disposal.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Continuous: noisy, dusty, hot and humid warehouse environment; exposure to forklift fumes.
Frequent: outdoor work when loading and unloading containers and Kona van, dusty, hot and humid conditions with poor ventilation.
Occasional: wet conditions (rain) and exposure to forklift and truck fumes.
Seldom: exposure to noxious odors at rubbish dump or extremely cold temperatures in freezer.
Generally available Monday through Saturday and holidays, between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Occasionally until 8:30 p.m.
Equipment UseContinuous: hand truck, pencil, calculator to check-in freight and label merchandise.
Frequent: electric and propane forklifts for larger freight transfers.
Occasional: drive a 4‑speed flatbed truck to pick‑up freight, deliver freight to Downtown store, dispose of pallets and damages at rubbish dump; use chalk, shrink wrap, string, case cutter and tape for stocking and preparing orders; hammer to repair pallets; broom and dustpan to sweep warehouse and containers; container‑jack, wheel chucks and ramp to load/unload containers and Kona vans; pallet‑jack to move merchandise around in the warehouse.
Seldom: use a ladder, case cutter, company van and circular saw.
Continuous use of a back support belt and steel toe shoes during all job duties.
Demands- Mental – Continuous concentration and alertness to drive forklift and vehicles; use mathematical skills for receiving freight, inventory and order filling; attention to detail in counting merchandise; comprehend instructions before performing duties.
- Physical – Continuous standing, walking, handling; frequent sitting with good eye‑hand‑foot coordination; reach, lift and carry up to 60 lbs.; occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel; push and pull up to 2,500 lbs. with pallet jack.
- Communication – Continuous listening, talking, and understanding vendors, supervisors and co‑workers; reading and writing to label merchandise; frequent interaction with co‑workers, vendors and store personnel; occasional telephone communication with stores and buyers; seldom train or supervise others unless instructed.
- Basic math skills and strong organizational skills.
- Multi‑tasking ability to accomplish work on time.
- Effective oral and written communication with workers, vendors and management.
- Minimal, or no, supervision required.
- Minimum age 18 years for warehouse entry, operating trash baler, freight elevator, and power‑driven equipment.
- Minimum age 18 years, valid driver license to operate forklift and company vehicle; forklift company certification required.
