Role DescriptionThe Paint Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Charleston County, SC. This position oversees all painting activities on assigned projects, including planning daily work, coordinating crews, and ensuring that schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. The Paint Superintendent reviews drawings and specifications, orders and tracks materials, and collaborates with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to resolve field issues.
Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and mentoring painters, conducting inspections, documenting progress, and addressing punch-list items. The role also involves monitoring labor and production, enforcing company policies, and supporting a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability on the jobsite.
- Experience supervising commercial painting crews and coordinating field operations on construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of commercial paint systems, surface preparation, application methods, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project schedules.
- Competence in jobsite safety practices, OSHA guidelines, and enforcing safety policies with the team.
- Effective leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills for working with diverse crews and stakeholders.
- Organizational and time-management abilities, including planning work, tracking materials, and meeting deadlines.
- Basic proficiency with mobile devices and construction-related software for documentation, reporting, and email.
- Previous experience in commercial construction; paint superintendent or foreperson experience strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to jobsites in Charleston County, SC and surrounding areas.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional trade training or certifications in painting or construction are a plus.
