In-House Estimator – Menzel LP

Job Description

Menzel LP is a leading manufacturer and fabricator of web handling machinery and other custom-engineered equipment. Since our founding in 1965, we have built a reputation for robust, high-quality machinery and innovative engineering solutions. We are seeking an In-House Estimator to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in evaluating project requirements, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the sales and engineering teams in securing new machinery projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and technical background, experience in estimating complex machinery, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and customers.

• Develop detailed cost estimates for custom-engineered machinery and fabricated equipment based on customer specifications and internal guidelines.
• Collaborate with sales engineers and design teams to evaluate project feasibility, material requirements, labor costs, and production timelines.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure accurate quoting.
• Work with suppliers and internal procurement teams to obtain pricing for components, materials, and outsourced services.
• Maintain and update cost databases, estimating templates, and pricing structures.
• Assist in preparing formal proposals and quotations for customers, ensuring clarity and completeness.
• Support sales and project management teams with cost-related insights and risk assessments.
• Utilize CRM software to document and track estimates, proposals, and customer interactions.

• Bachelor's Degree preferred, but significant relevant experience will be considered.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in estimating custom-engineered machinery, fabrication, or industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and machining techniques.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Experience working with estimating software, ERP systems, and CRMs
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to interact effectively with sales, engineering, and production teams.
