Golf Maintenance Assistant-in-Training (Heron Point by Pete Dye)
The Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina is seeking an Assistant-in-Training to join the Golf Course Maintenance team at Heron Point by Pete Dye. This role provides hands-on training in managing a bold and challenging Pete Dye design, where attention to detail and precision are critical to ensuring excellent playability. The AIT will develop technical skills while learning the intricacies of maintaining a demanding, architecturally unique course.

- Learn advanced practices in precision mowing, bunker detailing, and water management

- Learn daily maintenance practices that ensure championship-level playing conditions
- Gain practical experience with pesticide and fertilizer applications
- Develop skills in irrigation operation, hand watering, and water management strategies
- Participate in course improvement projects, renovations, and cultural practices
- Shadow superintendents and assistants to understand leadership, scheduling, and crew management
- Assist with daily course setup: cup cutting, bunker maintenance, and mowing practices
- Operate a variety of turf equipment, including mowers, rollers, and aerifiers
- Support fertilizer and pesticide handling, calibration, application, and record keeping
- Participate in irrigation inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Lead small crews on projects and daily assignments as experience grows
- Contribute to tournament and event preparation, including the RBC Heritage
- Mentorship from Golf Course Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents
- Exposure to three distinct championship courses and their unique maintenance practices
- Networking with industry leaders, vendors, and PGA TOUR professionals
