Director of Ambulatory Nursing

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the regional health network throughout the state of South Carolina. The Director, Ambulatory Nursing provides leadership over MCP’s clinical staff and scope of work across 100+ clinic locations in South Carolina, with the goal that all ambulatory clinics have centralized clinical support that embraces patient-centered service, service excellence standards, and efficient operational processes for our clinical staff.

Specific duties include overseeing and optimizing quality performance; developing and scaling clinical policies and protocols across care settings; support care team member onboarding, re-education, and competency for clinical workflows; and supporting system wide, clinically focused operations across the MCP network and across MUSC Health.

Job Description:

Directs one or more major functional areas of a department, a department, or a business unit. Manages two or more professional and support staff including subordinate managers. More discretion and greater financial authority than lower management levels. Directs the analysis, planning, implementation, and expenditures and budget tracking of major operational projects or initiatives. Provides recommendations to the leaders throughout the organization.

Leads in developing strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of operations. Collaborates with department/business unit leadership to support the budget process and meeting key operational goals. Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical and non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings. Establishes department policies and procedures.

This role will serve as the primary liaison for the department. Manages and influences relationships with senior management team, administrators, functional area managers and staff to achieve best in practice performance and business results.

Education:

BSN required, MSN preferred. 5-7 years of clinical experience with 3+ years of management experience preferred. Experience leading multisite and multispecialty ambulatory operations preferred.
