Sergeant - Prisma Hospital Security Team, Columbia; RICHLAND

Job Responsibilities

• Under general supervision of the Captain, plans, coordinates, and directs the actions of security staff and oversees security, custody, and control of inmates at Prisma Hospital.
• Directs and supervises day-to-day operations.
• Instructs and supervises subordinate security personnel.
• Responds to complaints and concerns from hospital staff.
• Inspects posts to ensure proper performance of duties.
• Maintains current knowledge of the security status of inmates assigned to the hospital.
• Ensures control of security keys and equipment.
• Prepares, submits, and reviews operational and administrative reports.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Division Director of Security or designee.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

• A high school diploma and two (2) years' experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, one (1) year of which must be in a medium/maximum setting.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
