Job Description190 day position
Qualifications- Valid Professional Georgia Certificate in School Psychology (Minimum T-6).
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Reviews referral packets for determination of qualification.
- Acts as consultant to the SST committee and aides in the development of classroom modifications as requested.
- Schedules evaluations and testing.
- Prepares psychological reports in accordance with guidelines from the State Department of Education.
- Translates test results and conclusions verbally to parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of all state regulations pertaining to Special Education eligibility and placement.
- Conducts in-service with teachers and/or parents as requested by the schools to meet the needs of a particular school or grade level.
- Participates in in-service and staff development activities.
- Aids in maintenance of the Policy and Procedures Manual in use by Liberty County special education personnel.
- Updates forms as needed or changes to meet new regulations or teacher needs.
- Maintains a file of all students placed to ensure that the mandatory three-year-evaluation is done on time. The file is updated yearly.
- Maintains a friendly and professional working relationship with all school personnel and parents in order to ensure good cooperation in the delivery of Special Education services.
- Stays abreast of changes in laws and regulations affecting the area of expertise.
- Conducts surrogate parent training with foster parents.
- Completes the Interim referral packet for students entering Liberty County Schools.
- Acts as a liaison between Liberty County and other school districts for students in special education.
- Attends IEP placement committee meetings.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.
