Job DescriptionReports to: Principal
Position Status: Non‑Contracted/Title I 182 Days
FLSA STATUS: Non‑Exempt
Job Goal:
To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators and other team members providing educational benefit for students.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Have at least two years of college (60 semester hours or 100 quarter hours or Earned an associate degree) OR
- Passed the State approved GACE paraprofessional exam.
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed.
Responsibilities:
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- Works with individual pupils and/or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified teacher.
- Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on individual students, their needs and abilities.
- Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Assists families in developing a better understanding of the Title I school and its programs designed to increase student achievement.
- Assists with coordination and implementation of Title I Parental Involvement workshops.
- Assist in computer instruction in core content areas.
- Provide instructional support in the media center for identified students.
- Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position as related to Title I and as assigned by the supervisor and Superintendent of Schools.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Light Work:
Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Terms of Employment:
Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on classified evaluation.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $18,753.10 to $34,034 Per Year
