This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the PositionServes as a Police Officer (Conservation Law Enforcement). Participates in investigations into violations of environmental and fish and game laws. Conducts various safety, search, and rescue services. Supplements the Physical Security Program in remote areas of installation.
Duties- Serve as a Police Officer (Conservation Law Enforcement) engaged in Conservation Law Enforcement duties. Participates in investigations into violations of environmental and fish and game laws.
- Participate in planning, coordinating, and conducting the enforcement program of Federal, State, and installation fish and wildlife regulations.
- Conduct law enforcement activities such as surveillance, interviewing witnesses, interrogating suspects, searching for and the collection of evidence, conducting seizures of contraband and vehicles, securing search warrants, making apprehensions.
- Perform duties to provide controlled, safe hunting and boating activities, including conducting scheduled and unscheduled marine patrols to ascertain compliance with federal and state boating laws.
- Conduct both short-term and long-term investigations, felony and misdemeanor, into violations of Federal fish, wildlife and environmental laws which involve a wide range of law enforcement activities.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the local State and the U.S. Department of the Interior (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) in studies of endangered wildlife species and threatened populations.
- Ensure physical security measures are in effect in remote areas of the installation for the protection of Government property, endangered or threatened species, and cultural / archeological protected / sensitive sites.
- Collect and preserve evidence, conduct long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trial.
- Participate in planning, coordinating, and conducting the enforcement program of Federal, State, and installation fish and wildlife regulations.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must attend and successfully graduate the Department of the Army Civilian Police Academy within 1 Year of hire date or have received equivalent academic credit.
- Pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work. These include: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System training requirements.
- Must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program which includes a high standard of conduct, emotional stability, work effectively under pressure and emergencies.
- Must maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test as outline in "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program". Failure to meet the standards will result in separation.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- In accordance the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position; and is subject to removal from the position if found convicted after being employed.
- Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies. Convictions that occurred before January 20, 2001 are not included in this requirement; only new convictions will trigger the requirement.
- Mission Essential position. In the event of a crisis, emergency situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
