Position: Electronics Mechanic Leader.
  • Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led).
  • Ensure that needed plans, blueprints, material, scenarios, and tools are available.
  • Ensure that stock or target components needed are obtained from supply locations.
  • See to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy.
  • Check work in progress, and when finished, for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
  • Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders, scenarios).
  • Ensure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • Work along with other workers, setting the pace.
Requirements
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator's License within six months of appointment.
  • Position requires incumbent to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Position requires incumbent to comply with OSHA safety standards.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain an OF-346 Driver's License within six months of appointment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to Lead or Supervise common Electronics Mechanic duties that include using test equipment to diagnose malfunctions, as well as troubleshooting to determine the cause of malfunctions. I can use and operate multimeter, oscilloscopes, and automated test set to diagnose, test and repair electronics equipment.

I am skilled in repairing a variety of electronics equipment, systems and devices. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
