Duties
- Ensures the safe receipt, storage, and movement of hazardous materials.
- Operates various forklift trucks to lift loads weighing up to 10,000 lbs. as high as 168 inches.
- Performs temporary warehousing space planning.
- Maintains customer accounts records utilizing automated systems to fill orders.
- Checks barcodes of incoming items for accuracy.
- Issues items from stock, verifies signature match with authorized signature cards.
- Screens shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies and identifies items damaged in shipment.
- Participates in inventories by verifying count types and quantities of items.

Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program and requires the incumbent to pass urinalysis periodically throughout the employment periodically thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent successfully complete a pre-employment physical and annual thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Fork-lift Certification/Hazmat certification within 90 days of employment.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 75lbs.
- Incumbent must be hazardous material packing certified. 8B-F7 Defense Packing and Hazardous Material for Transportation. Certification must be updated every two years.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 13 Months.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element)Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (FLO/ HAZMAT) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Hazmat). I can perform warehousing operations which include
1) receiving, storing and issuing a wide variety of supplies and equipment; and
2) unloading, inspecting, and tallying stock to assure quantities and types of items agree with shipping documents. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
