Position Overview
As part of the Freedom Boat Club training team, the Instructor trains and onboards members through virtual classroom and on-the-water training. The role is temporary/seasonal, ending in October/November, and requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Functions- Greet and welcome new members.
- Organize and conduct member classroom and on-water training on various skill, policy, and compliance areas.
- Identify areas requiring additional or beneficial training.
- Record training certifications in the reservation system.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uniform.
- Handle minor member mishaps or incidents while maintaining a friendly disposition.
- Provide a high level of treatment to members and guests.
- Speak with potential members about the Club.
- Adhere to all safety policies.
- U.S. Coast Guard Captain's license.
- Willingness to take a drug screen.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Boating experience in or around boats.
- Adequate vision to read and manipulate handheld computer tablets.
- Knowledge of electronics and utilization of smartphones/tablets.
- Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity.
- Team-oriented cooperative attitude working with supervisors and colleagues.
- Highly effective communication skills and friendly customer service.
- Professional communication skills with co-workers, corporate, and members.
- Self-starter, capable of working unsupervised.
- High attention to detail.
- Previous instructor experience.
- Transition between docks and boats over unstable and wet surfaces; large drops (~4 ft) to vessels and back to dock.
- Stand for long periods.
- Work outdoors in varied weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
- Work in a marina setting on docks that may be fixed or floating.
- Work near and on the water.
- Safely move on, off, and in vessels during various tide and weather conditions.
The anticipated pay for this position is $28 per hour.
Eligible to participate in Brunswick benefit offerings, including a 401(k) with up to 4% match.
