Location: Foster Elementary
To provide a safe, nurturing environment with enriching, developmentally appropriate experiences that provide opportunities for social, emotional, physical and academic learning for children who are 3 - 5 years old.
Responsibilities- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, be alert to the needs of the children as individuals and as a group.
- Cooperate with other educators to create daily routines, activities and lessons to enhance each child’s Preschool experience and prepare them for Pre‑Kindergarten.
- Plan developmentally appropriate activities in the following areas:
Social Emotional Development, Fine and Gross Motor Skills, Literacy, Math, Social Studies, STEM and Music. - Track and assess the children’s progress. Keep anecdotal notes of each child and create opportunities for each child to meet their social, and academic potential.
- When required, work as a 1:1 with children needing support.
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents, through emails, in person or phone conversations, daily and monthly newsletters.
- Conduct Parent/Teacher Conferences at least twice a year.
- Keep all Kids In Action spaces clean, neat and organized.
- Participate in ten hours of Professional Development, related to Early Childhood Development and Curriculum.
- Complete ten hours of EEC Strong Start Professional Development.
- Complete First Aid and CPR training annually.
- Attend monthly Team Planning and Staff Meetings.
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood
- Experience in a Preschool or Pre‑K classroom
- Familiar with the MA Early Education & Care (EEC) regulations
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Experience with de‑escalation techniques
- Physically able to lift items up to 20lbs.
- Clear all HPS and EEC background checks
