Job SummaryThe Hingham Public Schools is seeking a special education teacher to serve as school-wide academic evaluator for all initial and three-year evaluations. This position may involve a small teaching caseload dependent upon the number of evaluations each school year and would include providing academic support in the general education classrooms, specialized instruction for small groups and individuals, as well as attendance at IEP team meetings.
Qualifications- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in Special Education.
- Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Special Education.
- Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
- Experience in conducting formal academic assessments.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to use technology effectively.
- Orton-Gillingham Certification preferred.
- SEI Endorsement.
- Conduct comprehensive formal evaluations for initial and and three-year reevaluation.
- Schedule, prepare, and attend TEAM meetings for newly referred and caseload students.
- Support a small caseload to support special education students’ IEP services.
- Collaborate with general education staff around appropriate accommodations and modifications.
- Deep knowledge of student assessment practices, synthesizing the data and how to develop clear, understandable reports.
- Current knowledge of Special Education Processes, law, LRE, inclusive practices and Universal Design for Learning.
- Provide ongoing two-way communication with families.
- Regularly collaborate and plan with specialists, department, and school-wide teams on curriculum.
- Provide an equitable and inclusive learning environment that is responsive to all learners and their families.
- Collaborate and communicate with all colleagues to positively contribute to the school culture.
- Responsible for other job-related duties as determined.
