Under the supervision of the Fine Arts Director, the Srings Instructor will teach instrumental group lessons to third and fourth grade beginner violin, viola, and cello students and host a performance during the last lesson of each session to share student progress with families.
Responsibilities- Teach two 14 week semesters of 45 minute instrumental group lessons to third and fourth grade beginner violin, viola, and cello students.
- Host a performance during the last lesson of each 14 week session to share student progress with families.
- Supervise the arrival and dismissal of students.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children and be alert to the needs of the children as individuals and as a group.
- Responsible for all program communication with families of enrolled students.
- Communicate any changes to program scheduling due to illness, weather, or any other unanticipated reasons directly with families and the Kids in Action program director and staff on site.
- Create a safe, inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of all students.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and an ability to connect with students, parents, and all staff.
- Plan curriculum in accordance with standard beginner string pedagogy.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Degree in Music or Music Education Preferred
- MA DESE License:
Music:
Vocal/Instrumental/General (all levels) Preferred
28 total weeks of lessons (2 - 14 week semesters); 1-9 hours per week inclusing supervision of arrival and dismissal of students and techer preparation time. Successful completion of background checks as required by federal and state law. Non-benefit eligible position.
