Hours:
15 Shift: Day/Eve Rotation (United States of America) Responsible for responding to requests for ALS intervention and for providing emergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment according to Paramedic Protocols and Policies approved by SSHS and the ALS system Medical Director. Performs other duties related to the provision of care and development of the community EMS system. Compensation Pay Range: $25.25 - $35.36
- Assist with Diagnostic Imaging Department emergent events.
- Follows Massachusetts laws Chapter 89, Sect. 7 and Chapter 90, Sections 7, 13, 14, 16 and 17 regarding emergency driving.
- Located in Diagnostic Imaging areas at 2 Pond Park Hingham.
- Run report will be completed accurately and legibly.
- Run report data will be entered into computer database accurately.
- The equipment checklist will be completed on every shift.
- All responses will be recorded in the trip log.
- Patient charges will be completed and submitted with each event report where treatment was provided.
- Patient refusals will be documented as they occur completing a trip sheet and refusal form.
- Narcotics will be signed off per policy.
- Knows location and proper use of equipment.
- Restocks equipment within 30 minutes following run.
- Reports damaged or unsafe equipment to Manager upon problem identification.
- Performs complete and accurate patient assessments.
- Adheres to Region IV treatment protocols and procedures and carries out medical control's orders within own scope of practice.
- Is proficient in all related ALS skills.
- Has a pleasant and professional manner with patients.
- Gives accurate, concise radio reports and adheres to established radio communication protocols.
- Maintains sufficient knowledge of geography.
- Performs only those techniques within scope of training, under direction of Medical Control Physician.
- Assists with 12 Lead EKGs, blood draws, IV insertions.
- Charts skills done in-house according to appropriate policy.
- Demonstrates ability to control emergency scenes.
- Directs EMTs and other medical personnel on scene in the patient's best interest.
- Interacts with local EMTs and public safety, fire and police in a spirit of cooperation and professionalism.
- Prevent loss or damage of equipment by careful handling and storage.
- Maintains equipment and vehicle according to policy.
- Keeps vehicle locked when unattended.
- Maintains current certifications as required.
- Shares new information with fellow staff.
- Attends monthly staff meetings.
- Maintains a skill log for all skills done.
- Represents South Shore Health & Educational Corporation and the Department of Paramedic Services to the public in a positive, professional manner.
- Participates effectively in planned public relations events.
- Minimum Education
- Preferred High School diploma or equivalent - Minimum Work Experience Prior experience as a provider of pre-hospital care in an emergency setting
- Critical care experience preferred/ALS transfers
- Required Licenses VDL
- Valid Drivers License Verification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, at time of hire, with annual verification required thereafter. - Required Certifications EMT- P
- Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic ACLS - EMS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) BLS - EMS (Basic Life Support) - Preferred (not required) Certifications PALS
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support NRP
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program - Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 4pm - 9pm
