Chief System Architect

As Hendrie’s reclaims its historic roots in frozen foods, reinventing itself as a modern technology startup, we're looking for a sharp architectural insight and hands‑on engineering to lead this transformation.

With 15+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying scalable, cloud‑native systems, you'll serve as Chief Architect, owning the technology vision while actively delivering key systems. Whether it's creating an AWS compatible reservation platform, AI‑augmented chatbots, crafting investor‑ready prototypes, upgrading systems to API, managing external contract developers (2), or building out a full stack independently - your technical leadership needs to be able to move fast and scale as needed.

Located in Eastern Massachusetts, most collaboration is virtual with in‑person executive leadership and investor meetings as needed, all while delivering independently and reliably throughout the week.

Previous warehousing, 3PL, or WMS development experience a plus!

• Architecting scalable systems for reservation logic, consumer interfaces, and internal operations
• Secure, structured databases with DNC and compliance‑aware design principles

• Frontend:
  React, Next.js, Vue, Type Script
• APIs: REST, Graph
  
  QL, Webhooks, gRPC
• Serverless (Lambda, S3, API Gateway), RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB
• IaC via Terraform or Cloud Formation
• Focus on high availability, rapid deployment, and cost‑effective startup scaling

• Experience integrating LLMs and Chatbot tools to automate manual or time‑consuming operations
• Smart content generation, bot‑driven support flows, and workflow enhancements using AI

• Able to operate as a solo technologist while building foundational platforms
• Comfortable collaborating with C‑suite and pitching to investors
• Thrive in milestone‑driven, lean environments

• Technology leadership that respects the legacy of the brand while enabling innovation
• Architecting tools and platforms to enable modern customer and logistics workflows
• Collaborative, chemistry‑focused contributor aligned with long‑term growth goals

✅15+ years of experience in cloud & full stack engineering

✅Deep AWS expertise with database architecture knowledge

✅Experience building reservation systems, real‑time apps, and API upgrades

✅AI integration into cloud‑based systems

✅Comfortable with part‑time, advisory‑share model

✅Based in Eastern MA; able to attend in‑person and investor meetings as needed

✅Strong communication skills with technical and non‑technical audiences, managing 2 external contract developers (back‑end & front‑end)
