Marketing Manager, Marketing Strategy
Position Summary
The Associate Director of Product Marketing is a critical program and people manager role, responsible for translating high‑level strategy into actionable, day‑to‑day marketing execution. Reporting into the Director of Product Marketing, this role leads a team of Product Marketing Managers to successfully bring a portfolio of products to market within our Commercial Medical and Pharmacy Departments. The role closely collaborates with colleagues in Product, Sales, and Marketing to drive purposeful growth, member retention, market leadership and long‑term value.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands‑on leader who excels at building and operationalizing strategy and mentoring marketing talent. This position is eligible for the flex persona; if within 50 miles of a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts office, the successful candidate will be required to work from the office two days per week.
- Go‑To‑Market Planning:
- Translate complex health care offerings within our Medical and Pharmacy departments into cohesive product marketing strategies that deliver clear, compelling positioning.
- Understand the product’s internal business value and "mechanics" to successfully articulate the strategic value to external audiences.
- Manage the end‑to‑end execution of the division’s priority products, from initial planning through launch and post‑launch analysis.
- Influence and collaborate with cross‑functional partners within Medical and Pharmacy departments, and Marketing to ensure strong execution of campaigns and sales enablement.
- Partner with Marketing Centers of Excellence to assess campaign and engagement metrics to recommend optimizations to business partners based on performance goals.
- Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Product Marketing Managers, overseeing their projects, training on skill development, and ensuring high‑quality output.
- Operational Planning:
- Translate the leader’s strategic goals into detailed campaign plans, project timelines, and resource allocation for the team.
- Performance Reporting:
- Track and report on team performance, campaign effectiveness, and marketing KPIs to the Product Marketing Director, providing insights and recommendations for optimization.
- Culture/Operational Efficiencies:
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, process improvement, transparency, and accountability in campaign planning and execution.
- Identify and implement improvements to increase team efficiency and impact.
- 6‑8 years of experience in product marketing or adjacent roles in marketing.
- At least 1‑2 years of direct people management experience.
- Experience in the health care / health insurance industry strongly preferred.
- Strong project management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
- A "player‑coach" mindset with a passion for both strategy and hands‑on execution.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills for multiple management levels.
- Skilled at translating complexity into clear and easy to understand messaging and narratives.
- Comfortable with productive tension – able to advocate for a position, challenge assumptions constructively and engage in respectful debate.
- Familiarity and comfort leveraging data and analytics as well as AI to influence product marketing strategies.
High school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted above.
