Aboutthe Opportunity:
South Shore Conservatory seeks a creative, highly organized, and detail‑oriented Communications and Social Media Manager to help strengthen SSC’s external voice, digital presence, public relations efforts, and overall communications strategy.
This is an important administrative position for SSC as we continue to grow audience engagement, student enrollment, community partnerships, and visibility across the South Shore. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer and editor with strong experience in social media management, email marketing, public relations, content planning, and CRM‑based communications.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of how to communicate across multiple platforms and audiences, including current families, prospective students, donors, concert audiences, community partners, press contacts, and the broader public. They will be expected to manage day‑to‑day social media content, write and edit compelling copy, coordinate external CRM communications, support advertising schedules, and help tell the story of SSC’s programs, performances, faculty, students, and community impact.
Responsibilities- Essential Functions and Skills Social Media Management
- Manage SSC’s social media platforms, including content planning, scheduling, publishing, writing, and editing.
- Develop and maintain a strategic content calendar aligned with programs, performances, enrollment, fundraising, and community initiatives.
- Create engaging social media copy, captions, campaign messaging, and promotional content.
- Support visual content creation through Canva and other basic design tools.
- Coordinate social media advertising efforts with the Marketing Director.
- Gather stories, photos, and updates from departments to support content creation.
- Experience managing social media platforms, content calendars, and digital engagement strategies.
- Proficiency with Canva or similar content creation tools.
- Manage CRM communications and audience outreach campaigns.
- Write, schedule, and distribute email marketing campaigns, including program announcements, enrollment initiatives, concert promotions, and organizational updates.
- Plan, write, edit, and distribute internal and external newsletters.
Maintain best practices for email marketing, audience segmentation, scheduling, and campaign management. - Ensure all written communications reflect SSC’s voice, brand standards, and messaging goals.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to collect content for email and CRM communications.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, storytelling, and copywriting skills.
- Experience with CRM platforms, email marketing, campaign planning, and audience‑based communications.
- Manage public relations activities, including press releases, media outreach, and press contact management.
- Coordinate television, radio, sponsored article, and other media opportunities.
- Prepare talking points, media kits, background materials, and promotional content for interviews and press engagements.
- Maintain media lists and oversee press scheduling and communications timelines.
- Collaborate with leadership, faculty, artists, and staff to identify and promote compelling stories that elevate SSC’s visibility and mission.
- Track communications deadlines, media opportunities, and publication schedules.
- Experience with press relations, media coordination, and public‑facing communications.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and cross‑functional collaboration skills that support communications and public relations efforts.
