Job Description
We are seeking a full‑time CNA or LPN Nurse to serve students in our Early Global Program, which serves infants through Junior‑K.
Responsibilities- Provide medically prescribed interventions, including medication administration and care for ill children on a daily basis.
- Offer first aid to injured children and staff and provide everyday care of acutely ill students.
- Manage children with communicable diseases and consult with staff on medication, first aid techniques, hygiene issues, and nutrition education.
- Ensure student‑specific health care plans, medical protocols, medication plans, and physician orders remain current.
- Communicate with emergency medical personnel during on‑site emergencies and document visits to the nurse’s office.
- Collaborate with the program principal to train staff in CPR, first aid, field‑trip medication administration, epi‑pen training, and emergency procedures.
- Implement and communicate the program’s emergency plan to staff and students.
- Prepare reports for school officials, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), and other agencies detailing services provided and number of students served.
- Provide nursing care and physical screening, assessing students and implementing first aid measures as needed.
- Ensure compliance with applicable procedures and protocols.
- Maintain health and immunization records, updating them as necessary.
- Identify physical problems, illnesses, and conduct health evaluations of students as appropriate.
- Initiate emergency procedures for students and staff as needed.
- Assume responsibility for appropriate intervention, evaluation, management, and referral activities for students.
- Monitor and assess compliance with immunization standards per DPH regulations.
- Manage student health and immunization records for compliance and maintain health‑related postings.
- Assist teachers in instructing students on health and nutrition education.
- Conduct formal workshops and/or informal training for staff as appropriate.
- Communicate with parents or guardians as needed, providing notifications when further medical evaluation is suggested or required.
- Collaborate with Executive, Early Global, and Elementary Directors, counseling students when appropriate.
- Administer daily and prescription medications as needed and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student’s physician.
- Collaborate with principals in developing extenuating circumstances plans for students on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Orient teachers and staff upon hiring, annually, and as needed on specific medical and school procedures.
- Act as a liaison between the school, home health department professionals, and other community agencies.
- Present, train, and maintain appropriate standards from OSHA regarding contact with, and potential exposure to, blood‑borne pathogens and other infectious body materials within the school or employment setting.
- CNA Certificate.
- 2–3 years of experience; pediatric nursing experience preferred.
- Valid CPR, including AED.
- Successful completion of required background screenings, including a SAFIS fingerprint check and EEC background check.
- COVID vaccination is required for all employees.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, parents/guardians, faculty, and staff.
