Orthodontic Assistant

Overview

The Orthodontic Assistant partners with the practice team to provide excellent clinical support, helping patients receive the care they need. They prepare patients for treatment and assist the Orthodontist by preparing materials, equipment, and instruments for use during treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent chair‑side clinical support and assistance to doctors, including charting, operatory set/clean‑up, and patient education.
  • Record and review patient health history, make chart entries under the doctor’s direction, and assure completion of forms and signatures in dental software.
  • Enter and update patient treatment plans as directed.
  • Change and remove wires, brackets, and adhesive; take impressions, take scans, and prepare teeth for bonding.
  • Prepare treatment estimates for review and discussion with patients.
  • Review the daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments.
  • Prepare patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, maintain chain of asepsis, prepare materials, and assist the dentist during procedures following OSHA guidelines.
Qualifications
  • 0‑2 years’ experience.
  • State licensure where specified.
  • Valid Dental Radiographer License for the respective state.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional service, support, and education to patients.
