PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:
This position is responsible for designing commercial products and their production processes. This position works closely with product development teams to turn ideas into marketable items based on industry research.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The employee must perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities the supervisor requests. Job duties may change as required by the needs of the company.
- Design, develop, and implement new products with direction from Lead Engineer.
- Act as a lead engineer over a specific product line.
- Support new product rollouts across the organization.
- Update and maintain current products.
- Provide technical support to internal departments, suppliers, and customers.
- Generate 3D CAD models using Autodesk Inventor, primarily using Inventor’s sheet metal modeling capabilities.
- Detail 2D parts drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
- Enter item masters, bill of materials, and routings into the ERP system. Prior experience in SAP is a plus.
- Manage engineering requests and creation of material master tracking objects
- Create and maintain training material and a library for future engineers to learn MCP-specific system
- Train other engineers in the systems and methods required for troubleshooting MCP-specific problems in SAP
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Possess basic proficiency in one more or software programs including knowledge of SharePoint, SAP, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Solid knowledge of programs like Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, One Note, and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong 3D modeling capabilities.
- Proficient knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing requirements.
- Ability to work with imperial and metric dimensions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in the following software programs:
- AutoCAD
- Autodesk Inventor
- Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel)
- Experience in equivalent CAD packages will be considered
- Possess the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Understands fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Able to set up and solve algebraic equations.
- Possess judgment and decision-making qualities for situations that go beyond clear, concise guidelines and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Possess adaptability to project demands. Showing initiative to complete critical tasks promptly both independently and as a team.
- Possess the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Possess advanced communication skills and the ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures. Possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, clients, and vendors.
- Possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations.
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet.
