Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Job Overview
The Specialist of Regulatory, Compliance, and Technical Services is responsible for executing product, label, claims, and packaging compliance tasks.
Job ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance (Food, Packaging & Labeling)
- Basic understanding of FDA/CFIA/USDA, labeling rules, dairy standards, and packaging compliance.
- Review and approve product labels, artwork, and packaging claims to ensure full compliance with ingredient declarations, nutrition facts, allergen statements, and country‑of‑origin requirements.
- Prepare regulatory documentation including product specifications, statements of compliance, technical data sheets, and certificates for both domestic and export business.
- Monitor domestic and international regulatory changes affecting cheese, dairy ingredients, and food packaging materials.
- Collaborate with and provide regulatory support to cross‑functional partners during innovation, renovation and customer‑driven projects.
Technical Services & Product Support
- Support customer relationships as related to regulations, claims, and product compliance communication.
- Provide technical and compliance support related to finished product attributes by way of customer portals and customer/consumer inquiries.
- Assist in supplier raw material qualification, including reviewing supplier certifications and material compliance documents.
- Actively collaborate with subject matter experts throughout the broader Food Safety, Quality, & Risk Management network to ensure a cohesive, unified approach.
- Support any regulatory initiative, including the creation, development, and maintenance of technical ingredient/nutritional specification, data libraries, portals, and archives.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.
Documentation & Quality Systems
- Contribute effectively to the foundation of the Regulatory team by maintaining compliance tools, policies, and procedures.
Training & Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Support cross‑functional project teams for regulatory updates, packaging transitions, and technical troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge; follows established procedures, receives training; may help peers.
- GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to company safety policies and procedures.
- GLC employees are responsible to ensure products are produced in a manner that exceeds the food safety, quality and value expectation of our customers / consumers.
- All GLC employees adhere to company Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or Biology
- Energetic, creative, positive and independent thinker with high level of integrity.
- Skilled in data analysis, specifications management, packaging/labeling validation, and system optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in MS Office, product life cycle management, compliance and regulatory software solutions such as Genesis and SAP.
- Ability to travel up 25%.
- Ability to work in the US without sponsorship.
Education and Experience
- 1–2 years of direct regulatory experience in the food industry, with exposure to food manufacturing operations.
• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
• Work is mainly performed in an office setting, with some time spent in a manufacturing environment.
