Job Summary

Enhanced Sign On Bonus eligible (up to $20K for RN's with one year plus experience). Fulltime shift 7 pm‑7 am.

28‑bed medical‑surgical unit focusing on post‑surgical patients, overflow to general medical‑surgical and telemetry. Magnet and Leapfrog designated campus with Prism award for med‑surg excellence.

New graduates encouraged to apply for the Nurse Residency program.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytic/critical thinking, ensuring care is individualized and coordinated through effective partnerships.
  • Provides relationship‑based patient‑centered care tailored to population specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) with cultural diversity awareness.
  • Partners consistently with the patient and significant others, using appropriate methods for setting the purpose of care (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned teaching).
  • Practices using current clinical practice standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including inclusive interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and supporting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
  • Participates in performance improvement and shared governance, supporting research and interdisciplinary processes.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education.
  • Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses, staff, or students, modeling professional practice and cultivating a healthy work environment.
Evidence Based Practice and Research
  • Promotes evidence based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including participation in value analysis for decision‑making on patient care products.
  • Upholds all health‑care system/organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, complying with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements (TJC Patient Safety Goals, Wellstar Health Systems safety absolutes).
  • Participates in data collection, forms clinical questions, consults experts, and uses appropriate resources to address practice questions.
Resources and Support
  • Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum during direct patient care.
  • Participates in the development of protocols and procedures, collaborating with care managers and other team members to achieve best practice outcomes.
  • Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required

Minimum Education
  • Associate’s Nursing, Diploma (Nurse) Nursing, or Bachelor's Nursing – Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)
  • RN – Regular Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT (Multi‑state Compact)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support Instructor
Required Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 5 years RN experience required. Direct patient care experience preferred.
Required Minimum Skills
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English; basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies decisively, calmly, and respectfully.
  • Excellent time‑management skills; ability to practice nursing using evidence and analytical skills.
  • Strong critical‑thinking skills.
