Job Summary

Enhanced Sign On Bonus eligible (up to 20K RN's with one year plus experience). Fulltime 7p-7a. 28 bed Med surg with focus on Post Surgical patients- overflow to general med surg and telemetry patients. Magnet Designated campus/Straight A Leapfrog designated for patient safety/Prism award for med surg excellence in a 4 STAR CMS campus for patient satisfaction. Positive energy and enthusiasm for quality care and empathy is required.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Perform the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking and ensuring individualized care, coordinating care through effective partnerships.
  • Provide relationship‑based patient‑centered care consistent with population specific characteristics and adapt service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
  • Partner with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned patient teaching) and keep the patient’s goals the focus of the care plan.
  • Practice using current clinical practice standards.
  • Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care, including interdisciplinary communication, timely documentation and promoting a respectful, inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, fiscal responsibility and support recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
  • Participate and support performance improvement, research, and shared governance at all levels in the system.
  • Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment and required mandatory education.
  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses, staff or students across disciplines.
  • Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research and performance improvement in nursing.
  • Uphold all health‑care system policies, procedures and clinical competencies, including TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar safety absolutes.
  • Participate in data collection, pose relevant clinical questions, consult experts and use appropriate resources.
  • Proactively plan for patient care across the continuum.
  • Participate in developing protocols and procedures to achieve best‑practice outcomes.
  • Support efficient use of human and material resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all Wellstar Health System policies and standards of work.
Required

Minimum Education
  • Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)
  • All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact
  • BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support Instructor

Required Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 5 years RN experience (direct patient care) preferred.
Required Minimum Skills
  • Read, write and speak English; basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative and customer service skills.
