Day (United States of America)

The RN Oncology Infusion Therapy Clinician functions under the direction of the Manager Infusion Therapy or other designated leader. This RN demonstrates knowledge, competency, and clinical expertise in oncology infusion therapy, including but not limited to hazardous drug therapies for treating malignant and nonmalignant conditions. The RN will regularly administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies, working primarily in an outpatient infusion center with possible alternate settings.

This individual is responsible for providing safe patient care with an understanding and awareness of age‑appropriate and culturally aware needs. The RN addresses the patient and family’s biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs and is responsible for delivery of patient care in complex situations. The RN serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff, and upholds the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, Scope of Practice, and Code of Ethics Standards set by the American Nurses Association.

They are expected to attend staff meetings, in‑services, special projects, and continued education. The RN may serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues. Local travel is required; float staff may be needed between Cobb Hospital HODs within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital.

• Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model and includes interdisciplinary communication methods, timely documentation, and a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
• Demonstrates teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
• Participates in performance improvement inclusive of all stakeholders, research utilization, and shared governance across all levels in the system.

Professional Development and Initiative

• Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education.
• Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and staff or students, modeling professional nursing practice and fostering a healthy work environment.
• Cultivates oncology nursing knowledge and commitment to high‑quality care by engaging in continuing education, maintaining a specialty oncology certification, or obtaining 12 continuing education credits annually.

Evidence‑Based Practice and Research

• Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including value analysis for patient care products.
• Upholds health‑care system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, meeting legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements such as TJC Patient Safety Goals and Well Star Health Systems safety absolutes.
