School City of Hobart is seeking substitute teachers for the School City of Hobart. Positions are filled on an as-needed basis. The substitute teacher supports continuity of instruction and student supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The substitute teacher follows teacher-provided plans, maintains a safe and orderly learning environment, supervises students, and communicates appropriately with school staff.
Key responsibilities include following lesson plans, maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment, implementing assigned instructional activities, taking attendance, and communicating promptly with school staff regarding questions, emergencies, student welfare issues, or situations requiring administrative support.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to obtain and maintain a Valid Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit or Indiana teaching license, ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment, ability to maintain a professional demeanor, and ability to adapt to different grade levels, subject areas, classroom routines, and school settings.
This position is scheduled on an as-needed and as-available basis. Pay rates are $105.00 per day for a licensed Indiana teacher, $95.00 per day for a substitute permit holder with a bachelor's degree or higher, and $85.00 per day for a substitute permit holder with a high school diploma. This substitute position is not eligible for retirement or health insurance benefits.
The position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, supervise students, respond to classroom activity, move throughout school areas, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work is performed primarily indoors in a school setting and requires frequent interaction with students, staff, parents, and visitors. The position may involve movement through classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, media centers, and other school areas that can be noisy and heavily occupied.
